On Thursday 25 September the members attending the CLP All Members meeting at the Hope & Beams Centre in Crewe unanimously voted for Lucy Powell MP as deputy leader.
There were a number of speakers on behalf of Lucy who stressed her warmth, humanity and ability to engage and build effective relationships, which will be important in the months and years to come. It was also felt that being outside government she can communicate the needs and feelings of the CLP grass roots without the concern of ministerial collective responsibility.
We wish Lucy the best of luck in the overall ballot.
