Recently in St Helens, Keir Starmer made it clear that only Labour stands with working people.
Three years ago, Liz Truss’s fantasy economics crashed the economy and the Tories left you to pick up the bill. Last July, we were elected to fix that mess.
And we’re getting on with the job – our Plan for Change has stabilised the economy, with growth at the fastest rate in the G7 this year, four cuts to interest rates, and pay rising faster than prices – including a minimum wage hike for 3.5 million people.
But we are once again fighting fantasy economics, this time from Nigel Farage. His plan is making the exact same bet as Truss – that you can spend tens of billions on tax cuts without a proper way of paying for it. He’ll use the family finances, mortgages and bills of working people as a gambling chip.
My message to you is this: I won’t let it happen again. We’re working day in, day out, to deliver change for working people. Securing three trade agreements with the EU, US and India that are good for jobs, bills and borders. Supporting the car industry. Stepping in to save British Steel.
You can’t say that about Nigel Farage. This is a man who said Jaguar Land Rover ‘deserve’ to go bust. Because he didn’t like an advert they made. A man who voted against sick pay for working people, against fire and rehire and against cutting fuel duty. Nigel Farage is not on the side of working people.
And now he wants to blow up the economy again. Labour won’t let him. We will deliver our Plan for Change. Because we must protect working people and protect our economy.
