Crewe and Nantwich Labour are delighted to have held seats on Cheshire East Council and Crewe Town Council in the Crewe West ward.
The by-elections took place as a result of the passing of Councillor Brian Roberts last year and were delayed as a result of Covid-19 restrictions.
Newly elected Cheshire East Councillor Connor Naismith said; “I am extremely grateful to the voters of Crewe West for entrusting me with their vote. I would also like to express thanks to everyone who made sure the election was carried out safely and efficiently in what were still very difficult circumstances.
“In the context of a difficult set of results nationally for the Labour Party, I am extremely proud that voters gave me their support this time. I know that this support cannot be taken for granted, and I will do everything I can to get the best deal for all Crewe West residents going forward – whether they voted for me this time or not. I will now immediately focus on getting to work for residents and putting my campaign pledges into action.”
Ben Wye, Labour’s victorious candidate for the seat on Crewe Town Council added; “I’d like to express my gratitude to all those who gave me their vote on Thursday and look forward to working with my Labour colleagues towards making a positive difference for the residents of Crewe.”
